Despite winning the County's premier scratch matchplay foursomes event, the Coronation Trophy, two years ago, Auchterarder fell at the first hurdle for the second year running, against Perth Academy FP's. The top match of Stevie Carmichael and Chris Nicol halved their match, but D D Smith and Graham Lowson incurred their first ever defeat in twenty years of County competition by a margin of 2&1, and with Robert Aitken and David Croll also halving their game, Auchterarder made another early exit.
