Night golf comes to Auchterarder!
Last Saturday night saw the Inaugural Auchterarder Night Golf Tournament. After the sun went down, the golfers came out to play with exactly 100 hardy souls taking to the course with luminous balls in a Texas Scramble format. It was actually a perfect evening for night golf and all those in attendance had a hugely enjoyable time, particularly local weather forecaster and night photographer, ‘Windy Wilson’ who insisted on jumping out from behind trees on unsuspecting competitors! Best scratch score of the night with a score of 30 (4 under par) went to D D Smith, Jake Riddell, Stevie McFarlane and Kev Donaldson, whilst the handicap prizewinners were Graham Lowson, Elaine Lowson, Colin MacRonald and Edna Sloss with a net score of 22.8!
So how does it work?
The tournament consists of a 9-Hole Texas Scramble (Teams of 4 - Members/Guests), played over the 'Old Nine' (Holes 1-5, 14, 15, 17 and 18).
Entry costs £30 per team of 4, plus £3 refundable deposit per returned ball! (We recommend 5 just in case one goes out of bounds!)
Glow in the dark is the name of the game with holes, flags, greens, fairways and of course, balls are illuminated and each player will receive a Glow Safety Necklace so others can see you (and for marking your card!)
Subject to suitable weather conditions - no snow!
